The Hallmark Event

It’s that time of the year again. Hallmark is preparing for the biggest holiday ever invented. Yes my friend, your assumption is right. Valentine is hitting the town! Chocolate, golden and even marzipan hearts are going over the counter. It’s almost… tacky. Did you smell the sarcasm in that one? If we’re all trying to resist this invented exposure of love, why do we find it that hard to witness this social obligatory event? Yes, because we’re alone. It’s easier to condemn something when you don’t get to participate. And this, I must say, applies to a lot of things. Dating a married guy, having a sexbuddy, hell even pre-marital sex (in a different era that is…). We all judge and it’s easier when you’re looking from the outside. But what do you do when you’re on the inside? Do you just go along with it because you have to or will you really stand out by refusing to go with the flow? No matter what, you'll be judged. People who go with the concept are corny, people who don’t cynical, lonely and even jealous. It’s like the one thing we’re not allowed to have an opinion on. Single women out there, declare your freedom and don’t be ashamed to stand up for yourself, even on the most loneliest day of the year.
